چکیده

Iterative reconstruction methods applied to image reconstruction in three-dimensional (3D) positron emission tomography (PET) should result in possibly better images than analytical reconstruction algorithms. However, the long reconstruction time has remained an obstacle to their development and, moreover, their clinical routine use. Together with the constant increase in performances of the computing platforms, recent developments in parallel processing techniques offer practical ways to speed up the calculations and attain clinically viable processing rates [1]. The aim of this paper is to present the development of a library of object-oriented building blocks for the implementation of both analytical and iterative reconstruction algorithms in 3D PET.

Multichannel algorithm for fast 3D reconstruction.

Some recent medical imaging applications such as functional imaging (PET and SPECT) or interventional imaging (CT fluoroscopy) involve increasing amounts of data. In order to reduce the image reconstruction time, we develop a new fast 3D reconstruction algorithm based on a divide and conquer approach. The proposed multichannel algorithm performs an indirect frequential subband decomposition of ...

Fast Implementation of Algebraic Methods for 3D Reconstruction from Cone-Beam Data

The prime motivation of this work is to devise techniques that make the Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (ART) and related methods more efficient for routine clinical use, while not compromising their accuracy. Since most of the computational effort of ART is spent for projection/backprojection operations, we first seek to optimize the projection algorithm. Existing projection algorithms are ...

An Iterative Approach for Local 3D-Reconstruction of Non-Rigid Movements of Heart Region From Many Angiographic Views

In this paper we examine the reconstruction of a local region of a non-rigidly moving heart with unknown motion, using methods of reconstruction of rigid objects and without using (electrocardiogram) ECG-information. The reconstruction procedure chosen is based on the well-known Feldkamp filtered-backprojection algorithm. It reconstructs the volume of a rigid object from a reduced set of projec...

Exact Interior Reconstruction with Cone-Beam CT

Using the backprojection filtration (BPF) and filtered backprojection (FBP) approaches, respectively, we prove that with cone-beam CT the interior problem can be exactly solved by analytic continuation. The prior knowledge we assume is that a volume of interest (VOI) in an object to be reconstructed is known in a subregion of the VOI. Our derivations are based on the so-called generalized PI-se...

FDK-Type Algorithms with No Backprojection Weight for Circular and Helical Scan CT

We develop two Feldkamp-type reconstruction algorithms with no backprojection weight for circular and helical trajectory with planar detector geometry. Advances in solid-state electronic detector technologies lend importance to CT systems with the equispaced linear array, the planar (flat panel) detectors, and the corresponding algorithms. We derive two exact Hilbert filtered backprojection (FB...
